A patient should never be treated as just another case.
Smile Design is a family dental clinic where, for more than three decades, we have followed the same principle: every patient is a person first.
In the early 1990s, when private dental practice in Serbia was only beginning to develop, Prof. Dr Nebojša Bota Ristić, a faculty member at the Department of Endodontics of the University of Belgrade School of Dental Medicine, founded one of Belgrade's first private dental clinics.
Founder: Prof. Dr Nebojša Bota Ristić
From the very beginning, he believed that good dentistry is not only about knowledge and technique. Conversation, trust and the time devoted to each person are equally important. Patients should come to a place where someone will listen to them, understand them and sincerely help them.
This is why our clinic was always conceived differently. We wanted a place where people could relax, ask questions and speak with their dentist without feeling rushed. We believe trust begins long before treatment does.
Today, we continue this tradition as a family dental clinic.
We have combined experience, modern dentistry and the teamwork of specialists from different fields so that even the most complex cases can be treated in one place. When necessary, we plan treatment together, because we believe the best solutions emerge when every problem is considered from several professional perspectives.
What has not changed, however, is the idea that started it all.
That a patient should never be just a case. That we should approach everyone as a person. Because we believe treatment begins when we understand the person.
Our approach
Treatment begins when we understand the person.
This is not just a principle that guides us. It is how we approach every patient who walks into our clinic.
Before every examination, we want to hear what brings you to us, what concerns you, what you expect from treatment and what matters to you. Only after a conversation, examination and diagnostic assessment do we propose a treatment plan.
We believe a good dentist should not only treat, but also explain. That is why we strive to ensure that every patient understands the problem, why it occurred, which treatment options are available and what to expect from each one.
When several good options are available, we will present each one to you. We will discuss their advantages, limitations, treatment time and costs so that you can make an informed decision. We do not believe that one solution is best for everyone.
We do not recommend unnecessary treatment. We do not promise what medicine cannot deliver.
We will not tell you that every procedure will be completely painless or that lifetime guarantees exist. We believe trust is built through honest conversation, not grand promises.
It is especially important to us that no one feels judged because of the condition of their teeth. Regardless of when you last visited a dentist or how advanced the problem is, our goal is not to assign blame, but to find the best solution.
When treatment is complex, we do not rush. We do not take shortcuts if they could compromise the quality of the result. We believe that a little more time is sometimes needed to make treatment safer, longer-lasting and better for the patient.
For us, successful treatment is not just a procedure performed well.
Success is when patients leave the clinic calmer than when they arrived, when they understand their problem and know they have a clear plan for preserving their oral health in the years ahead.
First Appointment
The first appointment is the foundation of every high-quality dental treatment. No treatment plan can be developed without a careful conversation, a thorough examination and an accurate diagnosis.
The first appointment at our clinic is not limited to checking your teeth. We assess the health of the entire oral cavity.
The examination begins with a conversation, during which we seek to understand the reason for your visit, the symptoms you are experiencing and your expectations regarding future treatment.
This is followed by a thorough clinical examination. In addition to the teeth, we assess the condition of the gums and supporting tissues, the presenceof inflammation and tooth mobility, and, when necessary, measure periodontal pocket depths.
We give equal attention to examining the mucosa of the lips and cheeks, the tongue, palate and floor of the mouth. When necessary, we analyse radiographs and plan treatment. There areno one-size-fits-all solutions—every treatment plan is tailored to the clinical findings and the patient’s needs.
